Week 15 Project 5

1. Picasso uses alot of value in the shading between the white, grey and black. Alos contrast between the white alnd black.  There is also alot of line and shape throughout the piece.

2. It looks like alot of shading and outlining went into this piece as well as filling in different hsapes with different values.  It looks like there is alot of death going on so it was probably made during a bad time in society.

3.  This piece was created during a time of war specifically during the Nazi Germany regime.  It represents the brutality of war especially on innocent lives.  It was created in reaction to a German bombing.

4/5.  The work does a good job of representing what Picasso was trying to represent.  Before even looking up what the backround info on this painting was I knew that it was trying to represent a bad event or time in society and death.  The different shades of black and grey help give it a more dark mood.

Reflectons of AED200

1. My expectations were to learn about different types of art as well as the different things that make them up.  I also expected to learn about different artists.  Yes my expectations were met.

2. Art is an expression or representation of something or idea.  Art can be many different things and is all around us.

3. I did not really have one favorite artist at the time but if I had to pick one now it would be Ryan Kirby a wildlife artist.

4. The online course was not bad at all and I am actually taking another this summer.

Self Portrait

1. I chose these inspiration pictures because they looked interesting for self portraits.
2. I just used what I had available here at home and chose to paint it.
3. Getting some of the shades in the picture was difficult but i wasn't going for a painting that looked life like.
4. It represents me because it is a picture of me.
5. Some elements i included are color, contrast.
6. Yes I enjoyed working on this project.
7. I think it came out nice.

Final Project

Picking a theme for my art exhibition was relatively easy for me as my passion is the outdoors and hunting/fishing.  I chose to do and exhibition on wildlife and other outdoor art.  I named my exhibition The Great Outdoors.  I searched online for different wildlife artists as well as some landscapes I liked.  There are some really awesome and talanted wildlife artists.  They do an awesome job of capturing alot of these animals in their natural habitat and some of the paintings are hard to tell the difference between whether its a picture or not.  This was an interesting project and helped realize how many great wildlife artists there are.

Mod 13/14 Vid Review

The lowdown on lowbrow
Pop surrealism or lowbrow's influences include comic books, movies, rock music etc. Through interviews and examples this video talks about Lowbrow’s evolution. It is in relation to Abstract Expressionism. Artists talked about include Robert Williams, Isabel Samaras,  Anthony Ausgangi.

Tate Modern
This video talks about the Tate brand, created in 2000 by Wolff Olins. The video seeks to understand how the institution has become one of the most successful modern art museums in the world. Brian and Marina, along with Sir Nicholas Serota, and artists Tracey Emin, Grayson Perry and Rachel Whiteread explain to art critic Matt Collings how the organization set about realizing its ambition to revolutionize the way people perceive art.

An Acquiring Mind
The video talks about Philippe de Montebello, who worked for 31 years as Director of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. He guided the acquisition of more than 84,000 works of art, demanded innovation in conservation techniques, and oversaw the doubling of the physical size of this cultural institution.

Yes they relate to the project because some talk about museums and different works of art.
I thought the videos were interesting and provided new insight.
