Mod 10 Vid Rev

African Art
This video talks about the symbolism, aesthetics, and functionality of African art through the region's sculpture, masks, architecture, ornaments, clothing, and utensils.  African religious beliefs are explored through rituals a spiritual form of performance art.  Prehistoric rock art is also presented.

African Art Legacy of Oppression
Belgium's Tervuren Museum contains the world's largest collection of Central African art, which consists of around 250,000 pieces. The video discusses this collection. In the Congo region, there are more than 250 different cultures, so there is a huge range of artistic styles.  Belgium's King Leopold II colonized and brutally exploited this territory during the late 1800s.

I picked these videos because they seemed interesting. I thought the videos went into good detail and were interesting. They talk about some of the same things in the text but provide more of a visual then the text can provide.
